Children's Safety Policy
Navya is a service strictly for adults aged 18 years or older. Children are not permitted to use the Service in any capacity. This page explains the steps we take to keep minors off Navya and to protect them from any form of exploitation. It is published in compliance with the Google Play Families Policy, Apple App Store Guidelines, the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Minimum age: 18
You must be 18 years of age or older to register an account on Navya. We collect your date of birth at signup, require a government-issued photo ID, and re-verify age during the verification step. Profiles found to belong to anyone under 18 are removed immediately and the matter is reviewed by our Trust & Safety team for any further action required by law.
2. Age gate
On every visit to navya.in, first-time users see an age confirmation prompt. Users cannot view profile content until they confirm they are 18 or older. The Navya mobile apps are age-rated 18+ on the Google Play Store and 17+ on the Apple App Store, and require sign-in before any profile content is shown.
3. Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
Any content depicting, promoting, or alluding to the sexual exploitation of a child is strictly prohibited and is removed immediately. We report all such instances to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline, and to local law enforcement under the POCSO Act, 2012 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Accounts associated with such content are permanently banned and the relevant identifiers (hashed) are added to a blocklist to prevent re-registration.
4. Detection and prevention
The following limited data is retained for the periods stated, as permitted under the DPDP Act for compliance with law:
- Mandatory ID verification for every account, with date-of-birth cross-check.
- Photo review by a trained human moderator before a profile is visible to other members.
- Hash-matching of uploaded images against known CSAM databases (PhotoDNA-equivalent).
- Active monitoring of reports and patterns indicative of grooming or exploitation.
- In-app blocking of attempts to share contact details with users flagged as potentially under-age.
5. Reporting
If you believe a Navya user is a minor or that any content on Navya involves a child, please report it immediately:
- In-app: tap Report on the profile or message and select “Suspected minor” or “Child sexual abuse material”.
- Email: info@navyasocial.in — monitored 24×7. We acknowledge such reports within 1 hour and act within 24 hours.
- Government: cybercrime.gov.in · National Helpline 1098 (Childline India).
6. Education and partnerships
We partner with NGOs working in child online safety in India, including Childline 1098 and Cyber Peace Foundation, and we contribute to industry working groups on online child safety convened by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
