Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Navya account and what happens to your data when you do. It is published in compliance with Google Play's Account & Data Deletion requirement, Apple App Store requirement 5.1.1(v), and Section 12 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (Right to Erasure).

1. Delete from inside the app

The fastest way to delete your account:

  1. Open the Navya app on Android or iOS, or sign in at navyasocial
  2. Go to Settings → Account → Delete account.
  3. Enter your password to confirm.
  4. Choose “Delete everything” (recommended) or “Pause & hide profile”.
  5. Tap Confirm deletion.
2. Delete by email

If you cannot sign in, write to info@navyasocial.in from the email address registered on your account with the subject line “Delete my account”. Include your full name and registered mobile number for verification. We will action the request within 7 working days.

3. What is deleted

Your profile (name, age, city, bio, partner preferences) — deleted within 24 hours. Your photographs — deleted within 24 hours from primary storage and within 30 days from encrypted backups. Your in-app messages, connection requests, and activity logs — deleted within 30 days. Your payment information — already not stored by Navya (held by our PCI-DSS certified payment partner; will be removed in line with their retention policy).

4. What is retained, and why

The following limited data is retained for the periods stated, as permitted under the DPDP Act for compliance with law:

  • Hashed identity-verification records — 24 months. Required for fraud prevention and to prevent banned users from creating new accounts.
  • Transaction records (invoices, GST records) — 8 years. Required under the Income Tax Act and GST law.
  • Records of moderation actions and reports against you — until the limitation period for any related legal claim expires.
  • Aggregated, anonymous analytics — indefinitely. This data cannot be linked back to you.
5. Pause & hide vs Delete

If you want a break but might come back, choose “Pause & hide profile” instead of full deletion. Your profile is hidden from search, you stop receiving notifications, and you can restore it at any time within 6 months. After 6 months a paused account is automatically and permanently deleted.

6. Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a Premium subscription billed through Google Play or Apple App Store. Cancel separately on those platforms before deleting. Subscriptions billed directly through Navya are cancelled automatically when you delete your account; no further charges will be made.
